The course studies populism from a conceptual, theoretical and comparative perspective. In the first weeks it looks in depth to different theories of populism, explores its conditions of emergence and the relations between populism and key political concepts, such as democracy and political participation. It then applies the concepts to case studies of populism in different regions of the world.
