The purpose of this course is to examine key issues in the relationships between law, poverty, and inequality. These include the way in which legal principles and policy may create and perpetuate inequality, the manner in which legal processes and methods – and difficulties in accessing the law – disadvantage the poor, and the progressive potential of law as a tool for alleviating poverty.
