For Research Students in the Department of Media and Communications.

MC500 is the course for first and second year PhD researchers and MC501 is the course for PhD researchers who have completed their second year and are working towards writing up.

The aim of the course is to raise awareness of theoretical, conceptual and methodological issues in the interdisciplinary field of media and communications research and to develop students skills with respect to theory building, research design and implementation. 

MPhil and PhD researchers will also acquire professional skills to engage with stakeholders inside and outside of academia. 

The course content is part pre-determined, part co-constructed with the MPhil and PhD researchers.

This course is compulsory on the MPhil/PhD in Data, Networks and Society and MPhil/PhD in Media and Communications. This course is not available as an outside option.
