This course uses the case method to study private equity (PE) finance. The private equity market has grown significantly over the last few decades and is now one of the most important financial markets.  In addition, PE is a perfect laboratory to discuss and analyze important topics in finance, such as valuation, capital structure, corporate governance, performance measurement, and asset allocation.  The main focus will be on buyout investments, which constitutes the largest segment of the PE market, but we will also touch on other segments such as growth equity, private credit, and venture capital. We will explore private equity from the perspectives of PE fund managers (General Partners, or GPs), investors in PE funds (Limited Partners or LPs), and managers of companies owned by PE funds (Portfolio Companies).
