This course provides an overview of the major qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods used in media and communications research. Its aims are to equip you with:

1) an understanding of the key debates and issues in media and communications research design and philosophy;

2) a firm foundation that will enable you to pursue further methods training;

3) the practical and reasoning skills needed to conduct and critically read research presented in academic and non-academic settings;

4) develop knowledge and competencies that can be applied in professional academic, public, and private sector settings.
