The course introduces students to core aspects of English and Welsh criminal evidence law. Its aims are to teach students how to reason about evidence, and to encourage them to reflect critically on the modern law of evidence. Among other topics, we will study the basic structure and functions of evidence law, recent developments in the rules of admissibility for certain types of evidence, and the impact that the European Convention on Human Rights is having on the law of evidence.
