The goal of the course is to write and present a quantitative research project.
You will choose a topic of your choice, find adequate datasets, analyse them critically, write up the results in the form of a quantitative research paper, and present it. One-hour lectures are scheduled weekly during the Michaelmas term to treat each of these themes.
As its name suggests this is an applied course, which will provide you with practical experience on how quantitative research is carried out in the real world. This course will complement the theoretical principles of statistics that you have acquired in previous courses. Doing so will help you bridge the practical knowledge gap that undergraduates tend to find when leaving university.
