This course is intended to provide the student an orientation on management in health systems, appropriate for students with no formal health care management experience.

Taking a case-based and interactive approach aimed at developing knowledge, understanding and practical skills, the course will provide a comprehensive primer on management at three levels: the system, the organisation and the individual.

It will cover the principle responsibilities of a health care system and organisations within the system; the roles of managers and leaders; strategies for enabling health care organisations to be responsive to their environment; analysis for decision-making; concepts for supporting and implementing governance decisions; and systems for improving both quality and value in health care.
