Thematic Topics in Global Gender (In)Security provides an in-depth examination of peace and security issues from a gender perspective. The course explores issues related to but also exceeding the international Women Peace and Security agenda (WPS) and specifically considers areas not covered in as much depth in the foundational (GI425) course. These include: 1) critical approaches to peace and security (feminist approaches to peace and security scholarship and practice; queer perspectives on conflict and post-conflict spaces; men and masculinities) 2) implementing international policy (national action plans; institutional gender work) 3) contemporary concerns (sexual violence; migration, resistance) and (4) approaches to reading and writing global gender (in)security (cultural perspectives; research practice). Students develop an independent research paper in conversation with course themes.
