Redevelopment work is about to begin on the 1st floor of the Library on a new and improved Course Collection, as part of the LSE Library Space Development programme. The new Course Collection will provide more study spaces and more shelving, enabling us to provide more copies of core textbooks. The development project has the following aims:
- To create new and additional study spaces to meet student demand and improve the quality and range of study spaces.
- To enable growth in key areas of our outstanding social science collection, by moving lower use material to closed access and offsite storage, addressing the fact that we are at full capacity with our physical collections.
- To facilitate building works as part of LSE LIFE – a new academic, personal and professional development centre for all LSE taught students. LSE LIFE will be housed in a purpose built space on the ground floor of the Library and will be launched in Michaelmas Term 2016 with an integrated programme of workshops, training and support.
This period of work will also include the re-location of the ISSA/IP study rooms from the ground to the 1st floor.
Work will begin on the 21 March on the 1st floor of the Library. There should be minimal disruption to library users and work will be suspended during the exam period.
